We started in the market town of Beccles in 1991 in conjunction with the NHS and Community Care Act 1990. This was the first major reform of the NHS since it began in 1948 and gave social care departments the responsibility for community care for older people. The business was known as Dominoes Home and Personal Care, the idea being we would match services to meet people’s needs in our local community.
In 1997 the business was sold to Allied Healthcare, a large national Health and Social Care company. This gave us the benefits of being part of a large umbrella company, whilst maintaining the feel of a locally run business with strong links to the local communities in both Suffolk and Norfolk. In late November 2018, the Beccles and Poringland branches transitioned into a new and separate company, Home Support Matters.
Care Delivery Director, Su Carver, is responsible for the day to day running of the business and provides continuity of management, having been with the company since its inception in 1991.
Home Support Matters currently employs over 200 staff members across a diverse range of care and support services throughout the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk.
We are a not for profit, community interest company and our business is run for the benefit of people and the communities they live in.
